About the Program

Indirect taxation—especially Customs and GST—remains a relatively underexplored area in the corporate landscape of India. As a result, Corporate Tax Planning often overlooks these crucial components, leading to high landed costs of imports and adversely affecting overall profitability.

With India stepping up its efforts to attract global manufacturers and encouraging MSMEs to expand in the manufacturing and services sectors, a sound understanding of import duty structures is now more important than ever. Whether importing capital goods or raw materials, accurate customs classification and the proper application of duties can significantly reduce import costs.

This program is designed to equip participants with a working knowledge of Customs Tariff, classification principles, and related legal provisions—enabling informed decision-making, regulatory compliance, and cost optimization in import operations.

Program Objectives

A clear understanding of Customs Tariff structure and rules
The ability to navigate classification tools and exemption notifications
Awareness of the 2022 HS Code updates and their implications
Practical insights from case laws and real-world scenarios
