Adani University Organizes Two-Day Short Course on Concrete Technology: From Fundamentals to Advanced & Sustainable Solutions

Ahmedabad, September 29, 2026: The Department of Civil & Infrastructure Engineering, FEST, Adani University, in collaboration with Adani Cement, organized a two-day technical short course on “Concrete Technology: From Fundamentals to Advanced & Sustainable Solutions” on September 28–29, 2026, at Adani University. The programme brought together 40 students and provided them with industry-oriented exposure to contemporary concrete technologies and their applications in construction and infrastructure development.

The course featured seven technical sessions covering key aspects of concrete technology. The first day focused on the fundamentals of concrete and mix design, including the influence of concrete ingredients, chemical and mineral admixtures, fundamentals of concrete mix design, and self-compacting concrete.

The sessions were delivered by Mr. Hitesh Barot, Cluster Technical Services Head (West 1), Adani Cement, and Mr. Umesh Soni, Sr. Vice President & National Head – Technical Services, Adani Cement. Through their sessions, students gained practical insights into material selection, concrete properties, admixture applications, mix design considerations, and contemporary construction practices.

The second day focused on advanced, sustainable, and performance-oriented concrete technologies. Mr. Umesh Soni delivered a session on “Low Carbon Concrete Solutions for High Rise & Infrastructure,” while Mr. Hitesh Barot addressed “High Performance Concrete.” Prof. R. J. Shah, Professor Emeritus, NFSU, Gandhinagar, conducted an expert session on “Cracks in Concrete: Types, Root Causes and Remedy,” providing students with valuable insights into concrete distress, diagnosis, prevention, and remedial measures.

An Industry–Academia Interaction and Student Q&A session further enabled participants to interact directly with the experts and discuss technical and professional aspects of concrete technology.

The programme concluded with an end-course assessment, followed by a valedictory function graced by Prof. Dhaval Pujara, Provost, Adani University, and Prof. A. P. Vyas, Registrar of the University. Addressing the gathering, the Provost emphasized the importance of connecting academic learning with industry exposure and highlighted how such initiatives enable students to relate classroom concepts to real-world engineering practices.
