Designation: Professor of Practice (Renewable Energy)
Dr. Jayakrishnan P.R. is a Professor of Practice in Renewable Energy with a multidisciplinary background spanning atmospheric science, meteorology, academia, research, and the renewable energy industry. He currently works as a Weather Scientist at Adani Green Energy Limited, contributing to renewable energy forecasting and operational decision-making through weather and power prediction, meteorological analysis, and the development of in-house forecasting solutions.
With more than 16 years of combined academic, research, and industry experience, Dr. Jayakrishnan has expertise in renewable energy forecasting, atmospheric modelling, mesoscale meteorology, and weather-driven power generation. His technical interests include Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) modelling, numerical weather prediction, solar and wind power forecasting, data analytics, and the application of Python and MATLAB to meteorological and renewable energy applications.
Prior to joining the renewable energy industry, he served as an Assistant Professor at Kerala Agricultural University, where he was involved in teaching and research in meteorology and climate change. He also pursued postdoctoral research in China, further strengthening his research experience in atmospheric sciences.
As a Professor of Practice, Dr. Jayakrishnan aims to bridge academic fundamentals with real-world renewable energy operations, helping students understand how meteorology, forecasting, data analytics, and emerging technologies can support the reliable integration and efficient utilization of renewable energy. His interests also include industry-academia collaboration, applied research, and the development of practical solutions for the evolving renewable energy sector.
