Program Overview

Letter of Credit (LC) is a payment term mostly used for long-distance and international commercial transactions. LCs form an integral part of International Trade. Importers, Exporters world over as well as their respective banks deal with LCs on a regular basis. The transactions under LCs provide much needed security of payment to an exporter and assurance of delivery to the exporter. It is observed that knowledge in this vital area is always not up to date with the organizations operating under this mechanism.
Incoterms® 2020 constitute basic contractual obligation between Importers – Exporters. It is observed that in most instances Exporters – Importers under various Incoterms only look at cost implication and not title implication. This leads to heavy monetary losses many a times besides causing misunderstanding between Importer & Exporter.
